Its activity focuses on new developments of theory and engineering applications on three main areas: systems & control, complex systems and robotic systems. The area of robotic systems aims at new developments on dynamics and control of rigid-flexible manipulators, robotic surgery, biomechatronic devices, active control of structures, visual servoing, medical image, robotic health assistance, and image processing.

Logo SIANI

Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as such was created in the 1989-1990 academic year. Among its different research institutes, SIANI (University Institute of Intelligent Systems and Numeric Applications in Engineering) includes ROC (Robotics and Computational Oceanography) division with a wide experience in Marine Robotics, ranging from surface to underwater unmanned vehicles (ASVs, AUVs, ROVs, and Gliders) as it is demonstrated through the participation in SAUC-E competition in 2012, 2013 and euRathlon 2015. It has also won with the A-Tirma the World Robotic Sailing Championship (WRSC).

The Institute has participated also in the Challenger Missions since 2009 with Rutgers University along the 5 missions from RU-27 to 29 slocum glider missions. The University has also participated in the euRathlon FP7 project, organizing the first ever world outdoors multi domain robotics competition. The members of ROC-SIANI have worked with additive manufacturing for more than 10 years in different fields including titanium manufacturing for the marine field.

Logo CADFEM

CADFEM Ireland

CADFEM Ireland has been operating in the field of engineering simulation since the 1990s (initially as IDAC Ireland). Part of the CADFEM International group of companies, CADFEM Ireland provides software, support, training and consultancy services to help customers optimise their product designs and minimise the time and cost of their design cycles. CADFEM has extensive experience of FEA and CFD across a number in industries including: off-shore, renewable energy, oil & gas, medical, automotive and aerospace.
